Run Loan Product Advisor on a Loan
Step-by-step guide to submitting a loan to Freddie Mac's Loan Product Advisor, reviewing the verdict, findings, and errors, viewing the findings PDF, and checking past runs.
This guide walks you through running Loan Product Advisor (LPA) — Freddie Mac's automated underwriting system — from the Connect Services hub: choosing a credit provider, submitting the run, and reviewing the results.
LPA runs against the LOS loan file
Loan Product Advisor underwrites the loan as it exists in MeridianLink. If the panel warns that the loan has not been exported to the LOS yet, submit the loan to the LOS first, then run LPA.
Open the Loan Product Advisor panel
- Open the loan from your Pipeline (click the loan number).
- Go to Connect Services.
- On the Loan Product Advisor card, click Loan Product Advisor.
Submit a run
- Choose a Credit provider from the dropdown. This is the agency LPA reissues the borrower's credit through.
- (Optional) Tick Autopopulate liabilities to the 1003 to copy the liabilities LPA returns back onto the application.
- Click Run Loan Product Advisor.
The run is submitted to MeridianLink and processed in the background. The panel updates on its own as the run progresses — you do not need to refresh. A run in progress shows Working… next to its status.
Review the results
When the run finishes, its entry in Past LPA runs shows:
| What you see | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Status badge | Completed (green), Error (red), or in-progress. |
| Recommendation | LPA's verdict (e.g. Accept, Caution). |
| Findings | The individual finding lines LPA returned. |
| View findings PDF | Opens the official LPA findings report in a new tab. |
If a run fails, its entry shows the error message and any detailed error lines so you can correct the loan file and run again.
Review past runs
The Past LPA runs list shows every Loan Product Advisor run for the loan, newest first — including runs placed directly in MeridianLink, so the history stays in sync with the system of record.
